Yuengling Shamrock Half Marathon Recap

This past weekend we ventured down to Va Beach for Yuengling Anthem Shamrock Marathon Weekend for my sixth half marathon.  Thank you mother nature for an amazing weekend!  If you've heard of the Virginia Beaches Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend then you have heard of its massive bad luck with weather. From snow and sleet to freezing rain to winds gusting at over 20 miles per hour. 2018 was not the year of bad weather thankfully the race weekend just missed the snow we are now enduring her in VA!  EXPO This was my first time running during Shamrock weekend and I was excited. So far in 2018 I have ran 2 smaller races, Frostbite 15k and Powhatan Solar Trail 10 miler. These races are smaller local races which are always nice and humbling but there is something about the rush of a larger race. So the excitement I felt bubbled over. We got to the expo at The Virginia Beach Convention center at about 2:30 pm Saturday. The expo although in a large space ...

I'm a Marathoner ya!!

5 months. 78 runs totaling  484.18 miles. All this lead to one day, November 11, 2017. Richmond’s 40 th  Anniversary of the Richmond Marathon and my debut as a marathoner.  I was filled with excitement and nerves. I had trained for months for this day in the heat so the weather report advising that Richmond would be experiencing a freeze had me shook to my core.  Let’s flash back real quick. EXPO Friday afternoon my husband and I took the drive to the expo at the Author Ashe Center . I met with my running buddy Tiffany and we headed to get our numbers. This was both of our first marathons so we asked a bunch questions about gear and what we should wear, grabbed some hand warmers and a new head band and headed for the exit. Friday night was a fun fashion show where I tried on a number of running outfits trying to figure out what made the most sense. I have ran in weather this cold but never a marathon, never anything over 13.1 miles and t...

Richmond Marathon Training Week 3

They say that marathon training is not just a training of the body;  It's a deep training of the mind. This weeks training has truly helped  to open up and expand my mind. I am blooming as a runner but more so as a human being. Monday: July 3rd  So it's the day before the holiday and like many Americans I too am tied to my desk.. yay! I am thankful for my job and thankful for the day off tomorrow so not too much whining over here!  This day became a defaulted rest day. After all the miles I did yesterday at MTT followed by 10 hours at work and then  going home and grilled for 8. Tuesday:  It's the holiday.  What does that mean.. go running dah lol!  It was sooooooo humid out which makes for a slow run. The hardest part of the run was the uncontrollable burning sensation between my thighs. It is HIGHLY suggested that when putting on your glide you do not rush. It will leave streaks in which your thighs may slap together causin...
