About a year ago when I got serious about distance running I came across the Dopey Challenge at Disney world. There I sat reading blogs of all these amazing people who put their bodies through the ultimate (in my mind) abuse at the greatest place on earth!
Needless to say since I read this I wanted to do a challenge. I'm a frugal runner and the only other place that had a challenge was the Shamrock Half and 8k in VA beach which would let me run a 8k on Saturday and a half on Sunday. SN: they also have a King Neptune challenge but I am by no means that great of a runner. The challenge at Shamrock would have cost me a total of $140 and that was early registration. Everything happens for a reason cause with my injuries and illness this year my training has not been what i wanted it to be.
Flash forward to last week. I get a text from a friend asking me about the Rock N Roll half in Raleigh Nc. I immediately got excited as I LOVE the half marathon. I checked the date and dropped my head, that's the day after the Monument 10k which I signed up for right after the Richmond half. (I love Sports backers and the events they put on.) When I told her that I had a race and still wanted to do it she thought was I nuts. I didn't though, nor did my husband.
April 1 I will run a 10k with my husband. I will go home, shower and change my clothes to head to Raleigh, Nc (about a 2 hour drive) to hit the expo and rest. Sunday April 2nd I will complte the RNR Half ... this is now being called the Tiffy Challenge!
