Rock 'N' Roll Raleigh Half Marathon

Raleigh, Oh sweet rolling hills Raleigh. If you read last post,  Monument 10k Recap , then you are aware that the day before this race I ran a 10k with my husband. Almost immediately after the race, we showered and ate of course,  hopped in the car ad took the 2 hour drive south to the hilly Raleigh, NC. Monument 10k took place on Saturday April 1st and on April 2nd I challenged my body to keep up with my mind. I'm happy to report it did.. and did better than expected!!! Expo: The Rock and Roll Marathon series has a pretty strict no exceptions rule to their bib pick up. That is that no one is allowed to pick up your bib but you. Normally this rule wouldn't bother me as I enjoy the expo experience however with me coming from a race and driving down I was concerned I might miss the expo time on Saturday as the closed at 5 pm. Thankfully we pulled into downtown Raleigh at about 3:15 pm. We paid for parking across from the expo and walked in. The venue was h...

Monument 10k Recap

Don't shoot me .. I'm super late but you know what I almost walked away from writing again. Maybe it's my nomad nature, my Gemini free spirit, my sheer laziness, or the fact that I've started working 50 hours a week on top of training and being the best mom and wife ever! Either way I'm back with revenge lol. I've freshened up the look of the blog and well I'm ready... so here we go!!! Expo Sports backers did it again! This was my second large expo and also my second one at a Sports backers event. My husband and son picked me up from work on my lunch break and we made the drive to Richmond to attend the expo at The Arthur Ashe Center. As usual it was packed but parking was way easier than it was this past November.  We walked in and it was simple to get our bibs then we walked through to get our shirts.  It wasn't  anything too excited. We did the usual walk around, grabbed a  few freebies, found our names on the wall and I got a quick chair...

Monument 10k + Rock N Roll Half Raleigh= 19.3

About a year ago when I got serious about distance running I came across the Dopey Challenge at Disney world. There I sat reading blogs of all these amazing people who put their bodies through the ultimate (in my mind) abuse at the greatest place on earth! Needless to say since I read this I wanted to do a challenge. I'm a frugal runner and the only other place that had a challenge was the Shamrock Half and 8k in VA beach which would let me run a 8k on Saturday and a half on Sunday. SN: they also have a King Neptune challenge but I am by no means that great of a runner. The challenge at Shamrock would have cost me a total of $140 and that was early registration. Everything happens for a reason cause with my injuries and illness this year my training has not been what i wanted it to be. Flash forward to last week. I get a text from a friend asking me about the Rock N Roll half in Raleigh Nc. I immediately got excited as I LOVE the half marathon. I checked the date and dropped my...

Let's talk about RVA baby!! Sorry so late...

I've procrastinated long enough. I would love to tell you that I've been resting since Saturday's 13.1 mile adventure through Richmond Virginia but that would be a lie! With a lack of soreness, first time ever, I've been plotting not only on my next race but joining groups to drop so fluff and have already worked out and ran! Lookie there lookie there...my body really is stronger!! Hey now that alone is something to be proud of . A HUGE change since being passed on the kitchen floor aye lol. Fri-YAY: Expo Day I have to admit that the joy I was feeling when I woke up knowing that I did not have to work, for that to be further exaggerated by the idea that at 11 am I was going to experience my first EXPO!! Yea I'm sure avid runners are laughing at me, the novices smirking at my ridiculousness.. but new runners.. ya better feel me.   With the littles off to school, I willed myself to get out and get my last run done. Up and out Nike+ called for a 1.75 mile r...

Preparation

Wednesday morning, less than excited I woke from my slumber. Inundated with worry and concern from the state I had left my country in the night prior, I opened my eyes as I saw Facebook and ABC News share the news. You all know what it was so need to stress that, Election 2016 will always stand out in history, to me. Needless to say I wasn't in the mood to deal with office chit chat and debates as to what went terribly wrong or right or however you think. So I made the decision to be HAPPY! To me happy includes running.  So I took the joys I felt on Monday. Took those feels of others living out their dreams and honed in on my own peace of running joy to come... The American Family Fitness Half Marathon, my shot at running Richmond.I picked up my phone called out for the day, turned to my husband and asked him if he was up for a run around Richmond. Of course he was down! The plan has always been the same since the thought hit me almost 6 weeks ago. Get out to Richmond, figure out...
