The aftermath

So I've talked about the rough time I had after my first half marathon. You may recall me passing out and clinging to box of orange juice praying that God wasn't ready to take me home. Well clearly He didn't and well I learned a lot of what not to do! So here is a look at the things I did differently.
Don't recall ... Read about it here But did you die?
First, I was not on a restrictive diet. The "Herb" part of my name on Ig and this blog aren't coincidence.. it was a well thought out play on words. Herb, short for herbal.. which brings use to holistic or at least thats where it brought me. I have for the past 4 years been moving to being more Holistic, an organic, natural way of living. No I am not a vegan, but I do enjoy oil pulling over brushing my teeth and avoiding medications by eating more organic and not indulging in preservatives and non natural foods and juices. With all that said, I eat cleaner than I use to and i don't consider it to be a diet cause for me it's a whole lifestyle change... back to my point lol... I wasn't focusing on losing weight so therefore i was not shy with my carbs. I ate and I ate well... oh and for those weight nuts I did not gain or lose any weight this go around either tho.

After the half i didnt eat right away like the last time. I also had both kids so there was a lot of getting ourselves together prior to moving. We went to my favorite Jamaican food spot Carena's in Midlothian Virginia.

Oxtail, curry goat, rice and peas and cabbage and carrots! YUMMY Not pictured my ice cold Heineken

I ate it all! Drank all my beer and went on to my husbands pasta... Thank God he loves me lol! RUNGER is no joke, it is not a friend to you and will make you angry and eat all the things. This can last for a few hours or a few days! Do not play with the runger. Tend to it, treat it right. lol

Do you recall my inability to move after the first half? Well I do and beyond that I recall the pain/soreness  I've been going through ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh... So I stretched and did an epsom salt the day of the run. I stretched 4 times the day after, 2 sessions of Yoga for runners, a back massage turned to a full massage and well the soreness is all in my quads and my lower back. I put off my first run on Monday but as I don't like skipping workouts I pulled out 1.70 at a pace of 10:58 and I was thankful to just get it in. I refuse to sit still .. I have another half in 3 weeks and I am plotting on another PR.

Any avid runners out there? Any tips you can trade to push through this soreness... telling myself that parents didnt raise any punks isn't the best but i guess it'll have to do for now.

I'm still waiting for race photos! They finally loaded the finish line video... feel free to check me out..  Tiffany Copeland Bib 35 Finish. You can find me under bib 35 or by searching my whole name.

Keep up with me on IG HerbNRun
here are some running shots of me from my hubbie! I uploaded a video on Ig..

Kill Gym Funk with Vinegar!

Vinegar and gym funk? Say what! Yup Vinegar can kill gym funk. If you've been in the kitchen, watched Doctor Oz or ever did research on losing weight you've heard the word vinegar before. Health nuts drink the red type. Red vinegar is actually used by a number of naturalist to clean their hair and flush fat. White vinegar was a staple in my childhood as my mom used it to clean chicken, wash mirrors and windows and after one trip to Canada, wash clothes. Those of you in the laundry business know what I am talking about. My mom's cousin owned his own laundry mat in Ontario, Canada. One summer changed the course of laundry in my home. Uncle Carl, as I called him, told mom he placed white vinegar in the washing machines to help brighten and whiten the clothes. Over the years I got away from using vinegar on all my loads but recently came back to it. Here are 5 reasons why you should consider using vinegar in your laundry, especially your gym clothes today. 1. Ki
