When Rest turns to more Races

Sooo, today was a rest day. Which fell right in line with Hurricane, tropical storm Matthew. Like many rest days before  I've spent the day stretching, taking the kids to gymnastics, laundry and normal Saturday low key productive things. This almost always including searching Pinterest and google for tips and deals on running things. As I often do I looked to see what half marathons where coming up in my local area.

I stumbled on the Petersburg Halloween Half Marathon and low and behold it's on a Sunday!!! Yay!!! Insert running dance!!!!
Yeah I signed up! Quick fast and in a hurry, only the next 12 paid $65.

It's a relatively cheap race and the bling and tech shirt convinced me pretty easily plus, I could use the miles. After talking it over with the husband and making sure, unlike the American Family half marathon, I made sure I didnt have much or anything going on for that day. I grabbed my debit card, searched for a discount code and although none was found, I confirmed my registration for the  Petersburg Halloween Half Marathon 2016 .

On October 23,  in Petersburg, VA I will partake in my second half marathon!!! I've read so much from runners who do runs back to back and thought they were nuts.. well with only 2 weeks between the halfs my excited and scared but ready to see what my body and mid can do! Now to work on my costume...

Talking about seeing what the mind and body can do, lets talk about my last run. If you follow my on Instagram you would have seen my post about leaving it on the pavement at the end of every run week.. here's a peak:
"This weeks crap surely fertilized this run..." read more on IG

This run was especially special.. why.. I was already on a runners high with the speed work I put in at the track. Then to this recovery run well below the projected time while feeling strong and confident. The icing on this run was that for all 2.25 miles I did not stop, I pushed and  I sang, " I got STAMINA, don't give up, I won't give up, don't give up NO NO NO" Whooosh that run was amazing!!!

Kill Gym Funk with Vinegar!

Vinegar and gym funk? Say what! Yup Vinegar can kill gym funk. If you've been in the kitchen, watched Doctor Oz or ever did research on losing weight you've heard the word vinegar before. Health nuts drink the red type. Red vinegar is actually used by a number of naturalist to clean their hair and flush fat. White vinegar was a staple in my childhood as my mom used it to clean chicken, wash mirrors and windows and after one trip to Canada, wash clothes. Those of you in the laundry business know what I am talking about. My mom's cousin owned his own laundry mat in Ontario, Canada. One summer changed the course of laundry in my home. Uncle Carl, as I called him, told mom he placed white vinegar in the washing machines to help brighten and whiten the clothes. Over the years I got away from using vinegar on all my loads but recently came back to it. Here are 5 reasons why you should consider using vinegar in your laundry, especially your gym clothes today. 1. Ki
